I just received my Greenwill soapberries (aka nuts) order today. I am happy to report there is No Plastic Packaging! They are a little sticky, but that’s probably because they are more fresh than my last batch years ago. While I have used soap nuts off and on for years, I made a concerted effort to regularly use them exclusively these past six months-and I have no complaints. I see no difference in my washed clothes. I don’t use the bag it comes with. I prefer to put about 5-6 nuts in a wide mouth squirt bottle with some warm water and soak them for a few minutes. Then, I just squirt the liquid into the dispenser in my front loader. I re-use the same soaked nuts for 4-5 loads-just adding more warm water to the squirt bottle as I need it. They don’t rot or start to smell in the bottle, and I have left them there for a week or more with no issues. Avoiding buying and using single-use plastics is a huge deal in our house-along with unnecessary synthetic chemicals. I’m not thrilled they are from China, as I have zero faith in Chinese product safety........If they will put melamine in dog food to ‘up‘ the protein count, I’m sure some money-grabber would have no problem adding synthetic detergent to the soap nuts if they think it will sell better. I can only hope Greenwill does testing for that. #Nuts4Laundry
